Street Cranexpress Forging efficiency

Forgemasters were refurbishing their test house and required the installation of a free standing pillar jib crane. Street Cranexpress engineers performed a detailed technical site assessment to obtain a full understanding of how they could carry out the installation in line with the client’s high expectations.

During the site visit, the engineers gather as much information as possible. This includes what plant and equipment is required to facilitate the installation.

The Results

Forgemasters now have a brand new jib crane for all their heavy lifting requirements in a critical area of their works. They now have access to increased productivity and improved safety.

The Story of Sheffield Forgemasters

Sheffield Forgemasters traces its roots back to the 1750s, when it began as a modest blacksmith forge. George Naylor laid the groundwork for its commercial ventures by establishing the Millsands Steelworks in 1805. Later, his son-in-law, Edward Vickers, partnered with him to create Naylor Vickers and Co.

Throughout its history, the company has been affiliated with prominent names in the steel industry, such as English Steel, Firth Brown, British Steel, and River Don Castings.

Sheffield Forgemasters is now capable of producing the largest and most technically challenging cast and forged steel components in the world.

Benefits of a Jib Crane

For many industries, streamlining material handling and ensuring worker safety are paramount. Jib cranes have emerged as a valuable asset. These versatile lifting solutions offer a unique combination of efficiency, precision, and adaptability, making them well-suited for a wide range of applications.

  1. Unparalleled Maneuverability and Reach

Unlike traditional cranes with limited movement, jib cranes boast a long, rotating boom, granting them omnidirectional access even in confined spaces. This makes them ideal for tasks like loading/unloading trucks, machinery, or shelves with meticulous accuracy. Additionally, their diverse configurations, from Floor or wall-mounted to free-standing with 360° rotation, cater to the specific demands of various work environments.

  1. Enhanced Safety and Operator Comfort

The implementation of jib cranes significantly reduces manual lifting, a primary contributor to workplace injuries. Their precise controls facilitate smooth lifting and lowering, minimizing operator fatigue, discomfort, and injury. Furthermore, advanced models incorporate safety features such as overload protection and limit switches, bolstering overall workplace safety.

  1. Boosting Productivity and Efficiency

Jib cranes are renowned for their rapid lifting speeds, significantly expediting loading and unloading tasks. They efficiently transport materials within a workspace, often eliminating the need for manual carrying or forklifts, thereby optimising workflow and potentially reducing labor costs.

  1. Precision Lifting and Control

The meticulous controls of jib cranes allow for exceptional load placement, crucial for delicate tasks or confined spaces. Some models boast variable speed control, offering even greater precision during lifting and lowering operations.

  1. Adaptability Across Industries

The unparalleled versatility of jib cranes positions them as valuable tools across various industries, including manufacturing, construction, warehousing, and automotive sectors. They can handle a diverse range of load capacities, from lightweight components to heavy materials. Additionally, their compact size makes them ideal for smaller workspaces.

  1. Beyond Efficiency and Safety

Jib cranes offer additional benefits, including low maintenance requirements due to their simple design, easy installation, and a wide range of attachments to expand their functionality.
