The SCE Group (Comprising Street Cranexpress and bxh) is delighted to announce the promotion of Andy Hobbs to the position of Finance Director. Previously serving as the Financial Controller, Andy has proven himself as an invaluable asset to the company, and his new role reflects his exceptional dedication, expertise, and contributions to the organisation.
Andy’s journey in the finance industry began in 2004 when he started as an accounts assistant while pursuing his studies. Andy worked for AESSEAL during the early stages of his studies, before moving to what was Firth Rixson (later, Arconic and then Forged Solutions), it was here that he qualified as a management accountant.
Andy’s experience extends across various companies, before he started his first role as a Financial Controller with Lincoln Electric UK. Another position with Whirlowdale Trading Company as Financial Controller saw Andy play a significant role in the successful sale of the company before subsequently joining their purchaser, Scott Pallets, as their Financial Controller.
Andy was recruited by the SCE Group under the old SCX branding just prior to the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic; during his first interview with then Managing Director, Simon Eastwood (Now group Chairman), Andy recognised the exceptional cultural fit and the potential to add value to the organisation.
Joining the SCE Group in May 2020, just as lockdown was kicking in, Simon provided Andy with reassurance that nothing had changed, and his recruitment would go ahead as planned despite the uncertain times. Andy explains that this showed how the Group “is always thinking about its people”.
Reflecting on his time with the SCE Group, Andy expresses his utmost satisfaction, stating:
“I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed every minute of the last three years working here. The culture and people in place across the Group is second to none and that’s evident every day. That’s ultimately what drives the success the business has had and I’m looking forward to continuing to help drive that success for many years to come”.
In his new role as Finance Director, Andy will play a crucial part in shaping the SCE Group’s financial strategy, driving growth, and ensuring the company’s continued success. With his extensive financial expertise, strong leadership, and deep understanding of the organisation’s values, Andy is poised to make significant contributions to the SCE Group’s future.
