In 1972, Keith Eastwood launched CraneXpress to service and maintain all makes and models of cranes.
CraneXpress expanded their service offering following the purchase of Crane & Hoist Ltd, a supplier of hoists, jib cranes, gantries, slings, and other material handling equipment.
The group profile was diversified by the acquisition of electrical distributor, Burnand Components. The company would later become Bxh Ltd, who now has three branches; Sheffield, Scunthorpe, and Hull.
Burnand successfully purchased XH Electric, a similar electrical distributor based in Hull, prompting a change in the company name to Burnand XH. In 1992, a further branch was added in Scunthorpe.
Growth overtook all expectations and in 1997, the decision was made to merge Street CraneXpress, Crane & Hoist, and Intertotal, the latter became SCX Special Projects.
A restructuring set SCX as the holding company for both Street CraneXpress and Burnand XH, launching the SCX Group.
Street CraneXpress split into two separate companies; Street CraneXpress would continue their overhead crane services, and SCX Special Projects which would focus on the more complex engineering solutions.
In 2016, new state-of-the-art facilities opened with an expanded workshop and office space for Street CraneXpress. This would become the head office of the SCE Group.
The departure of SCX Special Projects from the group prompted a rebrand of the SCX Group. A modernised Street Cranexpress and bxh would join the newly formed SCE Group.

Would just like to pass on some feedback regarding some of your engineers, its often reported quick enough hen something hasn’t gone correctly but not when there is some good feedback to report. I had Jordan and Matt attend site for a planned repair at REL last week and the way they conducted the tasks they were undertaking was spot on, from the initial site meet to filling out the POWRA and setting up the work area. I asked Jordan to pop over to PCO with me and walk a client through a step-by-step method statement you have provided for exiting the crane and again it was very detailed. Great effort from the lads.
