Another Installation Done and Dusted!

We’ve installed, repaired, and maintained lifting equipment across the UK for over 50 years. And, as fortunate as we are to have a wide network of talented engineers covering all corners of the country, there’s something special about managing projects on our own doorstep, including a recent installation at a brand-new site in Sheffield…

The Project

We were approached by our key customers principal contractor, who was overseeing the development of a new site facility in Sheffield. They had a requirement for a number of overhead cranes, including two 3.2t double girder cranes and a 2t single girder crane.

After a period spent planning and coordinating the installation, we conducted multiple preliminary site inspections to see what we would be working with and to highlight any possible obstacles to ensure the installation went as smoothly as possible. With additional assistance by PP Engineering (who provided the mobile crane), all the necessary assets to hand and our team of engineers booked, we were ready to install.

The Challenge

Four Street Cranexpress engineers (including two for commissioning) began the installations, which took a week to complete. As luck would have it, the 3.2t crane installs were made much easier due to the fact that the building was still in the early stages of development, though we did have to exercise caution when lifting cranes into place due to obstructions in the roof.

The 2t single girder crane install proved a little more challenging as our engineers had to navigate their way around a recently installed manufacturing cell. Though our project management team was on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly.

Overall, the installations went to plan, with a great team behind us the whole way, including subcontractors and the site principal contractor who assisted us throughout the whole process.
