Inspection of Lifting Equipment Accessories Training
Suitable for:
This course is intended for personnel who may be required to carry out in-service inspection of lifting equipment accessories during their working day.
Aim: To ensure delegates appreciate the law relating to lifting operations. Recognise the need for correct marking, storage, and handling of equipment and identify key lifting equipment defects, so as to be able to complete in-service inspections.
Training Methods: Classroom-based tutorials and demonstrations. Practical exercise in the selection and in-service inspection of lifting equipment.

- HSE Guidance Notes
- Portable Lifting Equipment Examination/ Inspection (Theory & Practical)
- Lever Hoists/Pull-lifts (if required)
- Chain Slings / Master Links & Assemblies
- Man-Made Webbing Slings
- Wire Rope Slings
- Eyebolts
- Swivel Hoist Rings

- Manual Chain Blocks/Hoists (if required)
Knowledge Gained:
- Systems

- Understand the requirements for the relevant legislation
- Manage and control lifting equipment in accordance with legislation
- Carry out an In-Service Inspection of lifting equipment to identify signs of damage or wear that may affect the equipment’s fitness for use
This course includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment. The course does not provide training in the maintenance of equipment.
