Street Cranexpress Celebrates Two New Graduates of SCE Academy

24th August 2020

Street Cranexpress is celebrating the success of two of our engineers, Mathew White and Joseph Powell, after their recent graduation from our SCE Academy.

Both Mathew and Joseph started the apprenticeship programme four years ago and have each gained an NVQ & BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, and an HNC & NVQ Level 4 in Electrical Engineering.

The graduation, held at our head office at Tyler Street on the 13th of August 2020, celebrated their achievements and contribution to our industry. Mathew and Joseph both excelled in their LEEA foundation training with high pass marks and Mathew achieved first place at our annual Apprentice of the year awards 2019! We are extremely proud of all their achievements over the past four years.

The SCE Academy helps to ensure a steady supply of fully qualified crane maintenance engineers for Street Cranexpress. It also offers young people the opportunity to learn a lifelong trade, enabling us to educate and nurture our engineers, ensuring that the highest possible working standards are instilled from day one. Both theoretical and practical learning is employed to ensure our excellent standards of customer service are not only maintained but exceeded.

We are very pleased to announce that the SCE Academy will continue, with two more young persons starting their service engineer apprenticeship with Street Cranexpress in September 2020. Congratulations to both new apprentices.

Upon successful completion of the four-year apprenticeship program, our apprentices receive:

  • Their own work vans,
  • A branded backpack filled with various items for use on the road (Pens, Pads, Sanitiser, Drink bottle, wipes etc),
  • Framed completion certificates,
  • A £250 voucher,
  • Job title change to ‘Service Engineer’.

There are currently six – soon to be eight – SCE apprentices learning their trade in a partnership between the SCE Academy in Wincobank and the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, which brings together world-leading research and innovation in advanced manufacturing.

We would like to extend huge congratulations to Mathew and Joseph, whose achievement reflects not only their dedication and commitment, but also the success of the SCE Academy. We wish you both all the best in what we hope will be a long and happy career with Street Cranexpress.
