Global Lifting Awareness Day – GLAD 2021

8 July 2021

“Global Lifting Awareness Day is about getting the whole industry and the associated supply chains to recognise the importance of high standards in lifting, the significance of quality and how to ensure lifting best practice” says LEEA CEO Ross Moloney.

Street Cranexpress is proud to be taking part in the Global Lifting Awareness Day. Our history of lifting spans 50 years of working together with our sister company Street Crane Co. to keep British manufacturing moving. As a family-run British business, we have broken into major industries and our services support clients who play a vital role in the country’s infrastructure in key industries such as power generation, food distribution and transportation.

We are also extremely proud to have invested in the future of the lifting industry by launching a successful in-house Training Academy for our apprentices.

Street Cranexpress’ key operations involve maintaining and repairing thousands of cranes across the UK through its nationwide network of crane engineers, and in honour of GLAD 2021, we want to highlight the importance of safe working practises given the hazardous nature of the industry.

Health and safety is the number one priority at Street Cranexpress, and we are constantly reviewing and improving our policies and procedures to ensure that all our employees, customers and the general public are free from harm at all times. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed, but rather recognised and rewarded by achieving a Gold in the internationally renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

In addition to the routine refresher health and safety training we provide, each engineer is trained to the LEEA Foundation Course with the plan to progress to the LEEA Advanced Course. Even though these LEEA courses are not considered legislative requirements, we strongly believe in making sure our engineers receive training that contributes to high quality working practises on customer sites.

And it’s not just our engineers who received such excellent training; Street Cranexpress directors and senior management are also trained in courses such as the IOSH Safety for Executives and Directors and the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupation Health & Safety.

One of the aims of the GLAD 2021 initiative is to “remind end users of how important it is to use high quality suppliers who utilise years of experience and high quality training”, and we are excited to play our part in highlighting the high standards of working prevalent in the lifting industry. Though at times it may seem like our industry is hidden or unrecognised, we hope that the changes we strive for ensure that work is completed to the highest standards of health and safety, and contribute towards making a difference within our industry and supply chains.
