Street CraneXpress helps Sir Ben Ainslie’s yacht to stay shipshape

07th January 2017

Sheffield-based Street CraneXpress has signed a new two-year service contract to maintain the gantry cranes that carefully cradle Sir Ben Ainslie’s racing yacht at the Land Rover BAR Team HQ in Portsmouth.

Earlier in 2016, Street Crane Co installed its overhead gantry cranes behind the iconic Union Jack doors of Land Rover BAR’s Team HQ. Street CraneXpress has since secured the maintenance contract for the cranes.

With a combined safe working load of 15 tonnes, the cranes suspend and manoeuvre Sir Ben Ainslie’s yacht inside the building’s workshop. The crane configuration gives easy access to the catamaran’s 45-foot aerospace-inspired hulls for upgrades, servicing and maintenance.

Street CraneXpress will ensure the smooth running of the cranes, regularly checking structural and systems components including gantries, rails, hoists, gears, motors, radio controls, inverters, and crane communication & anti-collision systems.

The deal with Land Rover BAR follows similar contracts being signed with JCB and Toyota.
